Retaining wall collapse on 119th Street

Early Tuesday evening a portion of the stone wall on 119th Street east of Switzer Road collapsed onto the sidewalk.

Overland Park Public works responded and secured the area. The collapsing of the stone wall is presumed to be the result of heavy rains. Overland Park Public works engineers were on site this morning to inspect the damage and develop a plan to repair the wall.

At present we have no time line for the repairs. Please avoid walking in this area until further notice. As we become aware of a plan of action for repair we will keep you informed.
