Recycling Item Checklist (friendly reminder)
There have been a few issues with our curbside recycling recently. Here is a friendly reminder of what is and is not allowed.
The following are acceptable items for placing in your recycle container:

- Paperboard
- Aluminum Cans
- Tin/Steel Cans
- Books (consider donating first)
- Junk Mail
- Magazines & Catalogs
- Newspaper
- Phone Books
- Plastic Cups - NO PAPER CUPS/PLATES
- Plastic Canisters
- Plastic Planting Pots
- Soda Bottles (plastic)
- Water Bottles (plastic)
- Juice Bottles (plastic waxed)
- Milk Bottles (plastic & waxed)
- Ketchup Bottles (plastic)
- Mustard Bottles (plastic)
- Condiment Bottles (plastic)
- Shampoo Bottles
- Detergent Bottles
- Yogurt Tubs
- Butter Tubs
- Sour Cream Tubs
- Cream Cheese Tubs
- Deli Containers (plastic)
- Tupperware
- Food Storage Tubs
- Peanut Butter Jars
- Mayonnaise Jars
- Fruit Cups
- Wrapping Paper (no shiny or foil)
- Egg Cartons (no Styrofoam)
- Paper Towel Tubes

- Aluminum Foil & Pans (clean)
NO plastic bags with recycle items enclosed.
Rinse food containers before recycling
THINGS NOT TO RECYCLE !!!!!!
- Paper Towels
- Plastic Bags of any type, including rolled plastic (return to grocery store for recycling)
- Styrofoam
- Foil Paper
- Clothing (take to one of many charitable locations within Overland Park)
- Glass (Ripple Glass locations take a variety of different glass products along with Overland Park Recycling Center)
- Hazardous Materials (leaded paint, solvents, cleaning chemicals - Overland Park has a free drop off location for these items. Go to Overland Park's website for more information (opkansas.org)
