NEWS FROM THE BOARD
We are pleased to announce that the project to trim and inventory all street trees is near completion. Danny's Tree Service has been diligently working for many weeks to trim trees that are healthy and to identify those trees that are over 1/3 damaged for removal and stump grinding by Overland Park. The Homes Association will then provide new trees to replace those that have been removed, hopefully for a fall planting. We plan to continue this project on a three-year cycle, with 1/3 of NF receiving attention each year.
We had budgeted $10,000 to have the tennis courts resurfaced this year. Unfortunately, none of the homeowners surrounding the courts would give us permission to bring equipment through their yards for this project. We cannot access the courts over the current bridge, as the necessary equipment is too large and heavy. To erect a suitable bridge for maintenance of the courts would cost $50,000+, which may become necessary in order to keep the courts in "tip-top" shape. Consequently, this year we will only fill the cracks in the courts. We will, however, be erecting new windscreens, nets, benches, and will be repairing the lighting and locks.

We have had problems with trucks from various companies pulling up over the curb onto our grass along the major perimeter streets of 119th, 127th, and Switzer. These trucks have caused significant damage to the grass, and the Board has gone to considerable work to get the various companies to agree to repair the damage they have caused. We are asking any NF resident who sees a truck parked on the perimeter grass to please do the following: 1) stop and tell the crew that they are illegally parked on Nottingham Forest property 2) get the names of the crew and the name of the company they are working for 3) pass this information along to a Board member. By law, if any company needs to do work along a major thoroughfare, they need to get a permit from Overland Park to park on the street and place appropriate cones to alert approaching traffic.

Developers of the NW corner of 119th Street and Switzer received preliminary approval from the Overland Park Planning Commission on Monday, May 9th, for rezoning from single family lots to a condominium complex. NF Board, along with the Ginger Creek Homes Association, have grave concerns about this development. It will be put to a vote before the entire City Council the first week of June (watch our website for the exact date.) The Board is encouraging ALL NF residents to attend this meeting to hear the issues at stake and to voice our opposition to this zoning change!
