We have received several inquiries/concerns regarding trash collection in
our neighborhood and have been in contact with Deffenbaugh. One complaint
has been that trash cans left by the house are not returned to that same
location after being emptied. Deffenbaugh is aware of this concern and will
be addressing this with their employees. A second inquiry concerned recycling
and why NFHA does not pay for this service. First, not all residents want
to participate in a curbside recycling program. Secondly, our current budget
for basic trash collection is just under $53,000 annually. The Board feels
that to add on the expense of curbside recycling when not all residents
want this service would not be good stewardship of our dues.

Just
a reminder: In consideration of your neighbors, we are asking that you please
park all vehicles in your garage or driveway. Parking vehicles in the street
hinders your neighbors' access. We would appreciate everyone's cooperation
in this request.

In the May newsletter, we informed you of the proposed development on the
NW corner of 119th Street and Switzer. Three members of the NFHA Board attended
the Overland Park City Council meeting on Monday, June 6th, and voiced our
concerns about the development's structure height and impact on traffic
flow. Ginger Creek's attorney also presented their concerns about storm
water drainage. Thankfully, the City Council voted 12-0 not to approve the
development as is and voted to send it back to the Planning Commission for
further study and review. We will be closely monitoring future actions by
the developer and Commission and will keep you informed.

Don't forget to "Save the Date," Monday, October 17th,
for the annual meeting in the Oak Hill gym.

Notice: Many homes are in violation of the deed restrictions
governing Nottingham Forest which state that “no vehicle, truck, trailer,
bus, campers, boats or other apparatus, except passenger automobiles, shall
be left or stored on said property, except in an enclosed garage.”
Letters are being sent to each homeowner we see in violation. It is the
Board’s goal to maintain the integrity of Nottingham Forest, so we
thank you in advance for your cooperation in relocating this type of property.
POOL NEWS
REMEMBER
to come and Enjoy Family Night at the pool on the 1st and 3rd Fridays.
The vending
machines were removed and until further notice you will need to bring your
own snacks/drinks to the pool. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please
keep all food at the tables and be sure to clean up your area before you leave
the pool. Throwing away trash and taking all personal belongings with you
keeps the area clean for others.
Items
left in the lost and found will be discarded after a week.
If you
see anyone in the parking lot or hanging around the park, tennis, or pool
areas after hours please call the police. This is the property of all Nottingham
Forest Homeowners. For everyone’s safety and for the prevention of vandalism,
everyone needs to take responsibility for reporting anything that looks suspicious.
And as
always, if you see anything at the pool or in the pool house that needs attended
to, please tell the attending lifeguard.
TENNIS
NEWS
Due to excess vandalism and loitering it was decided to change the code on
the gate at the tennis courts. Until further notice the code will be the same
as the pool gate.
Did
you know any construction activity within the Right-of-Way (ROW) requires a
permit?
Permit Required for Construction Activity in Right-of-Way
According to the City of O.P. - This includes any work done by a utility company
or contractor as well as driveway replacement, irrigation system installation
and tree planting done by homeowners. All local utility companies should be
contacted to mark their lines prior to any work for safety reasons. Information
regarding permit requirements may be obtained from the Public Works Department
at City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive, by contacting ROW Coordinator Murv Morehead,
at 913/895-6189.
