A big thanks to all of the homeowners who attended the meeting
on October 17th; we had approximately 60 homes out of 572 represented. The
Board really appreciates the interest and support of those who attended!

Mailboxes: For problems with boxes with intact posts (latches,
numbers, flags, etc.), please call John Stack at 707-6515. In cases of damage
to posts due to auto accidents, vandalism, etc. please call Darrell Werner
at 685-8864.
-
Trash Collection: After much research, NFHA will continue
to use Deffenbaugh. Other companies are more expensive for the same service
that Deffenbaugh offers, and Deffenbaugh has expressed a willingness to
work with homeowners for better satisfaction. You are encouraged to contact
them directly if you have a problem or concern. Individual homeowners can
elect to participate in Deffenbaugh’s curbside recycling program at
their own expense; NFHA does not fund this service, as some homeowners in
the neighborhood are not interested in participating.
-
Social: A Social Committee, headed by Stephanie Lawson,
has been revitalized in Nottingham Forest. Great events have already taken
place this past year!
-
Pool: Sylvia Warner took it upon herself to dedicate countless
hours orchestrating improvements to the pool complex this past year! Formation
of a swim team is being explored.
-
Tennis Courts/Monuments: Jack Zimmerman has been instrumental
in making many improvements to the tennis courts this past year—they
are in great shape! Jack has also determined that all ten of our entrance
monuments are deteriorating and are in need of replacement over the next
few years.
-
Landscaping: Susan Aistrup has worked diligently to improve
the landscaping needs of Nottingham Forest! She has contracted with a new
company for next year, Rosehill Gardens, whom she feels has the capability
of better managing a neighborhood of our size.
-
Trees: Jim Lewis has also worked extremely hard on issues
regarding Nottingham Forest’s street trees. We are sorry to say good-bye
to him as a Board member; Jim has resigned due to a job relocation to Cedar
Rapid, IA. THANK YOU, Jim, we’ll miss you!
-
Financial: Ken Menendez presented a comprehensive financial
package. The Board proposed a dues increase of $55, effective October 1,
2006, targeted specifically for capital improvement projects such as the
monuments. The increase overwhelmingly passed. This will raise dues from
$400 to $455 yearly.
-
Sidewalk Repair: The Board detailed Overland Park’s
sidewalk repair policy in the August newsletter. The bottom line is that
it is the individual homeowner’s responsibility to maintain and repair
sidewalks on their property. Susan Roberts, Nottingham Forest resident,
has volunteered to research companies that might be willing to give a group
discount to NF homeowners. If you are interested, please call Susan at 897-1277.

want to thank him for seeing the “Mailbox Project:” through
to completion! Darrell Werner will assume his responsibilities; he will
also begin an investigation of perimeter fencing issues.
