LOST CAT
A lost cat has been found at the corner of 121st Terrace and Bluejacket Drive. It's black and white and wears a collar. It is living under our porch. Please contact 897-6461.

Annual Dues are Past Due
If you have not paid your annual dues, which were due by the end of December, 2003, please do so. Today 14 homeowners have not paid their homeowner's dues, and three have paid short of the $400. Also, the NFHA has liens on two properties from dues not paid in previous years.

Dues cover the cost of maintaining our garbage and trash removal, landscape maintenance, pool and tennis complex, social events (such as Santa visit) and capital projects (mailbox replacement and new entrance lights, as an example).

Mailbox update – January 29, 2004
Installations – To date, more than 350 new aluminum mailboxes and posts have been installed and approximately 220 remain to be installed when the weather moderates. When the ground is frozen the old cedar posts often break below ground level when they are being removed. With better weather, the rest of the installations will be done in 4-5 working days.

Numerals – We have had delays getting good number labels from the supplier and now the weather is a problem to assure good adhesion. Our plan is to have the numerals applied by girl and boy scouts. So that they can do the job efficiently, we request that all homeowners mark the inside of the door with their house number. Use a light color marker, a label with good adhesion (not postems) or other method. Or, you can use a ballpoint pen to mark your number on the barcode label on the inside of the door.

Acceptance - Comments we have received so far overwhelmingly approve of the new mailboxes and posts. Weather conditions and in-ground obstructions have affected optimum alignment of some of the posts. Once the entire installations are completed, we will make the rounds to adjust these misaligned units.

Removed boxes and posts – Several homeowners have asked if they can keep the removed units to use at other properties. Yes, just add a note inside your box before it is removed and it will be left for you. Also, the installers will keep a few better posts outside the dumpster located in the pool parking lot. Help yourself to these posts or boxes.

Property Maintenance Concerns
Nottingham Forest Board members have fielded inquiries from area residents concerning homes and properties in our neighborhood that are in violation of city or Association codes or that are not being adequately maintained. Your board members are making the following recommendations. First, please call the City of Overland Park’s Neighborhood Preservation line at 895-6370 to report the problem and see if it is in violation of city codes. If this office deems the concern to be a city code violation, they are very helpful and prompt in investigating the problem and will notify homeowners that they need to correct the violation within 30 days or a reasonable amount of time. All calls are strictly confidential. If Neighborhood Preservation determines that the concern is not a violation of city codes, please contact a Nottingham Forest Board member, and we will proceed from our Association deed/code restrictions. The Nottingham Forest Board does have the authority to enforce deed restrictions, and we intend to be much more proactive in doing so in order to maintain the integrity of our “aging” but still beautiful neighborhood. Thank you for everyone’s cooperation!!
